Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • My first lemon - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought the Jeep with only 3 miles on it. I, too, have experienced the uncertainty of whether the Jeep will accelerate and the windows I think are possessed. The dealership tells me "We cant reproduce these problems". Now, as the final insult, the engine "has thrown a rod" and I am expected to pay between $7,000-8,000 to get this fixed. I do not have all of my oil change receipts. I am told the oil was 2 quarts low. The oil was changed 5 weeks before the engine blew. No engine light came on, no oil light, no warning. I will never buy another Jeep product. For the money I have spent, I should be driving this vehicle for more than 3 years.

Trail Rated 4.7 V8 w/trailer tow package best bet. In 45 years of driving (almost all 4x4/awd) my JGC Laredo is one of the best highway cruisers Ive ever owned. I live in Winnipeg, MB, Canada and Ive never understood why everyone doesnt own a 4x4/awd vehicle. It pulls my boat (1500 lbs) and I dont even know its attached. My son from Calgary is buying the Jeep from me because after looking for a newer vehicle, both in Calgary and Winnipeg, my Jeep came up "best" as a vehicle for the next 2-3 years as the auto industry goes thru some major changes. Now I have to do the looking for a replacement and the Jeep GC is the only NA vehicle Id consider. Ext. warranty hasnt been needed yet.

  • Embarassing - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I love my first ever GC. I had the fabric seats changed to leather and it is brilliant and only 6 months old.I am blown away by the power when you hit the accelerator even compared to my Dodge Nitro (petrol). The Laredo can throw you back in your seat. Love it! The paddle shifts that I thought were just a gimmick are great when towing which it also a winner in my book. All the electronics are impressive compared to my previous Dodge. It looks good and for an SUV is reasonably quiet. The only 2 x things that annoy me actually embarrass me and Jeep could have avoided which is the foot brake alarms and warnings and the door hinges able to overextend.

Having enjoyed my Jeep Cherokee Sport 2 Door 6 cyl, for a full 10 years, it was time for a new toy. Price, performance and spirit where high on my list of wants in a new machine. I kept coming back to Jeep. The Laredo was the right size for my shopping and travel needs. I am hoping this will give me at least 10 reliable years of fun, like its predecessor.

  • Wow!!! - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Loved the ride in comparison with ford and toyota SUVs. Best SUV -- bang for the buck. We looked at german SUVs and their repair expense is very high. I own two german cars so i have experience with regular wear and tear repair cost. I was very sceptical to buy first American car and was sold right away after i drove .

  • Best Jeep Yet - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is a much better Jeep than in previous years. Engine is powerful and responsive, and the ride is quiet and smooth. Handling is true and the car doesnt wander over the road as my 2004 Laredo did. So far, it has been a quality ride.

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee sucks - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This car is a disaster waiting to happen. I have never had these kinds of problems with other cars. The upholstery on the trunk door is falling down. The roof console is falling down. The gear shift box cracked out of the blue. The rear view mirror leaks water inside the car whenever it rains. The alarm system goes off on its own for no good reason and cannot be disabled by the dealership without also disabling the stereo and the on-board computer. Various bits and pieces in the engine keep breaking at a much faster rate than any car Ive ever had. I would NEVER buy another Jeep.

  • Never Again - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The most frustrating ownership experience in over 50 years of car ownership. My Grand Cherokee is a 3.0 diesel. Minor irritations would include the frightening suspension clunking when the ride height is set to maximum, but my major issue is service. Or to put it more plainly, the terrible service. Like other owners, I am constantly required to go to the dealer to get the computer scanned. The number of codes is always overwhelming, and the dealer is ALWAYS at the mercy of the factory for instructions as to how to correct the problems. I never get my car back the same day, Sometimes it is two weeks, or more.

  • Love My Limited - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Purchased used with under 12,000 miles. Have had some small annoying problems, but nothing that would make me buy something different. Nimble sports car like handling for a SUV. Power when you need it. Great looks. When it gets too many miles I will definately look at buying a new version of this vehicle.

  • more fun for a great SUV - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my 3rd Grand Cherokee, all of them performed great. Id only add a more sportive transfer case (sequential) as an optional.
